The San Francisco Chapter of Soroptimist International of America (SIA) (www.soroptimist.org/) is launching the Stop Sexual Trafficking of Women and Girls Campaign on Jan 11th, 2007. This inaugural National Sexual Trafficking Awareness Day, thousands of Soroptimist clubs in the United States will take part in this public awareness campaign. Soroptimist International, a worldwide organization that acts as a global voice for women through Awareness, Advocacy and Action.

The Sexual Trafficking of Women and Girls is the new face of slavery! Members and supporters of Soroptimist International and San Francisco Women’s Film Festival (www.sfwff.com/) will pass out flyers and information to educate the public about sexual trafficking world wide with an infamous hub in the in the Bay Area.
Human rights groups estimate that anywhere between 12.3 million and 27 million people are enslaved in forced or bonded labor, child labor, sexual servitude, and involuntary servitude at any given time
