Here's a great opportunity for local Flickr photographers to "show and sell" prints of their Flickr photos. The owner of Copper Star Coffee has invited us to set up a table (or two) in front of his coffee house to exhibit, distribute, and/or sell our photos during ArtLink's First Fridays art festival. This is a great opportunity to introduce more people to Flickr, exchange creative ideas with other local artists, and get your work out there. Now is the time to do more with your photos; i.e., order some cards, postcards, calendars, coffee mugs, etc. Copper Star Coffee also has WiFi, so feel free to bring your laptop to show of your photos on Flickr as well!

P.S. Remember, this is the holiday shopping season. Also, this event is being planned about a month in advance, so it's rather likely we'll get Flickr Schwag!

Hey, folks. There's a 60% chance of rain for Friday night, but I'm still gonna go to Copper Star Coffee at 6 PM even if just to sit at a little table with my laptop, mini cards, and post cards just to meet any of you who might like to have a friendly get-together to chat about photography and Flickr and show each other prints of our photos. So, worse comes to worse, it'll just be a friendly little Flickr meetup.

There's still a chance that it might not rain, though to be realistic, let's not expect too much. I spoke with Bill, the owner of Copper Star Coffee, and he told me that there's already an artist who's setup in the one area that's covered, and there's no other covered area unless one of us can bring a pop-up tent. The artist is a neighbor and acquaintance of mine, and I'm waiting to hear from him about whether or not he still plans to set up. If he doesn't set up, the space might be available for us, but I wouldn't get my hopes up, especially since any inclement weather greatly reduces our chances of any foot traffic coming to our table(s).

Oh well. We'll see what happens. But I will definitely plan to be there from 6 to 10 PM to enjoy coffee, dinner, and the good company of whoever shows up. :-)

It's official: I can't make it. :(

Sorry you couldn't make it, Johnida. I understand others had trouble making it too, but that's okay.

Considering that it was a rainy night and the ArtWalk thing was a bust, we had a fantastic turnout! There were eight of us altogether (ten, if you include glyph hunter's teenage kids, who are budding photogs in their own right), and we had fun looking at each other's photo creations, discussing various ways to print photos, and just generally having some good social fun. I'm very happy that I was able to trade some of my postcards for some of Scrap Arcs' neat little photo tags and a beautiful, matted photo by smallbloc.
