The free-spirited, 12-member Firebird Ensemble takes flight in a one-night only genre-busting concert, Tuesday, October 7th @ 8:00pm at the Tenri Cultural Institute in Greenwich Village, NYC. Flying high on the heels of its recent performance at the 2008 Ditson Festival of Contemporary Music, the Firebird Ensemble continues its dedication to performing contemporary classical works with the world premiere of Nicholas Vines Torrid Nature Scene (a commission by the Firebird Ensemble) peppered with other eclectic pieces by fellow avant-garde composers including Thomas Ads, Earl Kim, John Harbison, and C. Bryan Nulon. Made up of some of Bostons finest artists on the new music scene today, the Firebird Ensemble includes: Sarah Bob (piano), Sarah Brady (flute), Gabriela Diaz (violin), Rane Moore (clarinet), David Russell (cello), Aaron Trant (percussion), and Kate Vincent (viola); with special guests Paula Downes (soprano), Thea Lobo (mezzo-soprano), Jeff Means (conductor), Jason White (horn), and Ina Zdorovetchi (harp).
