Do you enjoy listening to jazz, but don’t always quite “get it”? Wish you could name some jazz musicians besides Duke Ellington? If you like jazz but want to understand and appreciate it more, this course is for you. We'll listen to classic jazz recordings and explore the impact of world music on jazz as well as improvisation, the sound of the blues, swing and standards.

A jazz lover for 25 years, Paul Feldman studied jazz saxophone and theory at New York City's Jazzmobile and at Columbia University with jazz educator and saxophone player Paul Jeffries. He also studied jazz history with Ron Carter (the bass player in Miles Davis’s most famous Quintet) at the City College of New York.
