How many times can you say that a concert has changed your life? What about the life of a neighbor? What if your presence at a concert could help break the silence surrounding family violence ... would you attend?

"Finding a Voice" is a choral & arts concert organized by The Choir Project to support the work of The Shelter for Abused Women and Children, to honor the journey of its residents and local survivors, and to raise community awareness about domestic violence. "Finding a Voice" concert is a powerful embodiment in text, music, image and dance of a woman's journey from lament, to breaking the silence, to hope, to healing, and finally to restoration. Music includes choral music, African-American spirituals, folk music and living composers' scores, including works by Joan Szymko, Nitanju Casel, Amy Sky, J. David Moore, Stephen Paulus, Randall Stroope, Ysaye Barnwell and Rosephanye Powell. Performers/artists include: Lumina, the 24-voice women's vocal ensemble, Atlanta vocalist T. Renee Crutcher, singers from 5 Collier County middle and high schools, dancer/choreographer Natalie Strafford, local actors/readers, and visual images from photographers as well as art from The Shelter's "healing arts" program. Come join us in "finding a voice" of support for Survivors and The Shelter!
