Final Camping Ground: Civil War Veterans in Green-Wood Cemetery April 1, 2008

Jeff Richman, Historian of the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, will give a talk on his book, Final Camping Ground: Civil War Veterans in Green-Wood Cemetery, in their own words.
Green-Wood has been named a National Historic Landmark and has been placed on the Civil War Preservation Trust’s list of outstanding Civil War Trail sites.
There are many Civil War veterans interred there—more generals, for example, than in all but Arlington and West Point. But no systematic search for these veterans had ever before been undertaken.
In September 2002, Green-Wood Cemetery launched its unprecedented Civil War Project to find as many of the Civil War veterans buried there as possible. In the ensuing years, hundreds of volunteers, led by Mr. Richman, have worked to identify these soldiers.
Come to hear their stories, in their own words, as presented by Mr. Richman.
