Filthy Rich [Flex] Clients with James Ward and Chet Haase
Q: What do you call a web application with an awesome back-end but a boring client front-end?
Don't bore your users to tears: Flexcite them. Join Adobe's James Ward and Chet Haase,
author of "Filthy Rich Clients," as they talk about the open source Flex SDK and how
you can use it to write awesome client applications that talk to your Java-based back-end.
In addition to Flex3 and BlazeDS, James will be covering some ground on Mobile application
development in FlashLite and the OpenScreen Project.
ames Ward is a Technical Evangelist for Flex at Adobe and Adobe’s JCP representative to JSR
286, 299, and 301. Much like his love for climbing mountains he enjoys programming because
it provides endless new discoveries, elegant workarounds, summits and valleys.
His adventures in climbing have taken him many places. Likewise, technology has brought him
many adventures, including: Pascal and Assembly back in the early 90’s; Perl, HTML, and J
avaScript in the mid 90’s; then Java and many of it’s frameworks beginning in the late 90’s.
Today he primarily uses Flex to build beautiful front-ends for Java based back-ends.
Prior to Adobe, James built a rich marketing and customer service portal for Pillar Data Systems.
Chet is a senior computer scientist on the Flex SDK team at Adobe. His background and interest
is in graphics, animation, and anything puts the pixels on the screen. He is the co-author of
the book “Filthy Rich Clients.
