"The film I've chosen is The Maltese Falcon (1941), directed by John
Huston I've chosen the film because it is a masterpiece of screen writing
economy- every word counts in this movie, and every scene connects with
the next. It also contains great performances from Peter Lorre and Mary
Astor, among others. I love this film for its cynicism and briskness, and
its dry, menacing tone has definitely been an influence on me."

RM Vaughan is a Toronto-based writer and video artist.

FILM SCHOOL is a monthly screening where guest Lecturers are asked to pick
a film they feel is important or insightful. They are then asked to give a
brief introduction contextualizing the film. These nights are geared
towards emerging artists and film lovers, expanding their film repertoire
and allowing them a intimate view of the lecturers tastes. Please feel
free to join us at XPACE (303 augusta ave. Kensington market) for an
evening of film.
