On January 23rd, at 4pm, the VHM will show Just Beyond This Forest, as part of our 2010-2011 programming celebrating the acts of righteous gentiles who saved Jewish lives during the Holocaust. This Polish language film explores the relationship between an Aryan washerwoman and a Jewish child in the doomed Warsaw Ghetto whom she agrees to save. The plot focuses on the transformation of the older Polish woman from a seemingly uncaring individual to one who recognizes her moral duty to save and protect the Jewish child.
