Join the New Leaders Council for the next Film Chat on Friday, February
15 for a showing of Ezra. Ezra, shown as part of the 18th annual
Cascade Festival of African Films, is directed by Nigerian filmmaker
Newton Aduaka and tells the story of a former child soldier attempting
to find internal peace after the horrors he witnessed and committed as a
combatant in Sierra Leone's decade-long civil war.

Ezra provides a good introduction to the disturbing new phenomenon of
child soldiers involvement in the continent's recent civil wars and ties
in to City Club's Citizens Read February selection, A Long Way Gone:
Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah.

The New Leaders Council will meet after the show at Laurelwood Pizza Company (728 NE 40th Ave.) to share their perspective and thoughts on the movie.
