DC’s ultimate clash of creativity! WIT’s Fighting Improv Smackdown Tournament (FIST) is returning for its fifth year with more ruthless competitors than ever. 47 teams—141 improvisers—will brawl in a single-elimination bracket tournament where the ultimate prize is creative brilliance, the respect of their colleagues, and preposterously cheap trophies.
Over six weekends, groups with names like “Guys in Plaid Shirts,” “That’s So Puberty,” and “SugarTits” will compete for the favor of the audience and judges in hopes of advancing all the way to the title. Each night one team advances to fight another day while the other team hangs its heads in defeat.
“The WIT community is teeming with talent,” explains WIT Artistic Director Mark Chalfant. “F.I.S.T. gives dozens of new faces an opportunity to develop new shows, and play with new partners, which makes for exciting creative challenge.” Past FIST champions have gone on to perform during WIT’s regular performance runs and at improv festivals nationwide.
The tournament begins March 10 at 8pm and continues with multiple matches each Thursday, Friday and Saturday through April 16, when the final contenders enter the ring at 11pm.

Thursday shows: 8PM / 9:30 PM, Friday and Saturday shows: 8PM / 9:30PM / 11PM.
