Serious book lovers will relish this group facilitated by Ellen Bob, formerly of bob And bob Judaica and Gifts. We will be reading Triangle by Katharine Weber.
On March 25, 1911, 146 sweatshop workers, most of them women, perished in the Triangle Shirtwaist fire in New York City. In Weber's novel, readers meet 106-year-old Esther, the last survivor of the fire, her geneticist granddaughter Rebecca, Rebecca's composer partner George and Ruth, a feminist historian determined to unravel the contradictions in Esther's court testimony after the fire. Stories, interviews and court records weave the story together, at last revealing the mystery behind Esther's unlikely survival.
