Fiesta Argentina 2011 will feature folklore singer Suni Paz, critic Allen Hughes of The New York Times said: "Suni Paz, lit up the hall with her enormous charm and vitality...", tango singer Stella Milano, who has been called “outstanding” by the Los Angeles Times, the velvety baritone voice of Carlos Bosio, Tiempo Tango Ensemble directed by guitarist Dino Durand, as well as the acclaimed Otero Dance Company, directed by Gloria and Claudio Otero. The show also features legendary Argentine rock band Arco Iris co-founder and woodwind player Ara Tokatlian, guitarist Carlos Velasco and master Latin American harpist Julio Montero. A large screen will transport the audience through illustrations and historical photos, some dating back to 1892. The printed program will also provide brief biographical notes of the artists and the women being celebrated with this show.
Fiesta Argentina offers audiences a full sensory immersion in Argentine culture: from the smoldering passion of Tango - erotic and haunting, involving both body and soul, started in the smoky saloons of Buenos Aires to the folkloric music and dances depicting the relationship between man and nature in the vast Argentina Pampas, with the elaborate “zapateo” of the gauchos and the powerful bombo rhythms.
