The holiday season is approaching and FEW is getting ready to celebrate the end of the year by hosting our annual Bonenkai Party.

The event will take place on Thursday, December 13th, at the Foreign Correspondents' Club from 7pm to 9:45pm.

This year?s Bonenkai will be centered on the theme of ?Sharing the Holiday Spirit?, and as it is our 25th anniversary year, we have decided to celebrate both occasions on this evening.

On behalf of FEW, we hope to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to our fellow members, guests, sponsors and speakers for all the tremendous support throughout the year.

Along with our special turkey dinner, drinks and music, we will have a few activities planned to make the atmosphere of the bonenkai more enjoyable and interactive.

For those of you who are searching for something from the holiday season reminiscent of your home countries, come to the Gingerbread Men Decorating Corner. Use icing and decorations to create your own gingerbread men and maybe win a great prize. If you are seeking relaxation and healing, come visit the Aroma Therapy Corner. Our experienced consultant will suggest the best healing methodology to help you live a life with less stress in 2008.

The charity that we will support at this year's bonenkai will be Shure.

Shure is a Japanese non-profit organization that promotes education alternatives to children and young adults. Shure runs an alternative school for children from 6 to 20 years old, supporting those who have been bullied, teased or feel out of place in the traditional Japanese school system.

Shure deals with the social phenomenon known as "hikikomori" (literally meaning withdrawn bat), and represents thousands of children and youth that avoid school stress by staying at home. Shure focuses on the potential of young people and develops educational programs based on the needs of the individuals, and is designed to build self-esteem and self-awareness. Shure also conducts job training programs for young adults.

The donations that we raise from the bonenkai will go to support the development of Shure?s education programs.

We hope that all of you will be able to join in the festivities and thank you for your continued support of FEW.

Without our members, guests, sponsors and speaks we would not be what we are today- one of the oldest and dynamic networking organizations for foreign women in Japan.

We look forward to seeing you in December!

Best wishes,
FEW Board
