CHOCOLATE FACTORY THEATER
YANIRA CASTRO + COMPANY
October 19-21 Th - Sat 7PM & 9PM
Performed for a limited audience of twenty, (fetus)twin fet(us)twin features two installations that highlight the Factory’s unique ground floor and basement performance spaces. Confined within a hermetic environment, two dancers perform a series of intimate movements. Inspired by news reports of twins: one of conjoined women whose decision to separate late in life was fatal and another of a seven-year-old boy who carried the undeveloped fetus of his twin brother inside his own body as a tumor—the piece addresses the experience of loss, union and separateness in the body.
(fetus)twin fet(us)twin is created in collaboration with visual artist C. Merritt Houghton, costume designer Suzanne Dougan, writer Kevin Kwan, lighting designer Roderick Murray, composer Dan Siegler, videomaker Julie Wyman, and performers Nancy Ellis and Pamela Vail.
