“Music before all else,
and for that choose the irregular,
which is vaguer and melts better into the air”—Paul Verlaine

It must have been fate speaking when a young Debussy was introduced by his childhood piano teacher to her rebellious son in law, Paul Verlaine. Thus began an artistic and aesthetic marriage of words and music never before realized. Mandolins exchange sweet nothings with beautiful listeners, wooden horses spin and dance through towns and even pianos kiss the willing hands of women. The program will feature selections from Fêtes Galantes I and II, Ariettes Oubliées, and Trois Mélodies.
