As one of many compelling adventures during the Festival of Sail, which makes its appearance in San Francisco from July 23 to 27, 2008, local entertainment ensemble Velocity Circus is presenting "Ye Olde Velocity Circus Pirate Academy." Kids of any age will enjoy the intricacies of a highly theatrical and interactive environment, while honing the skills and ways of those mischievous water rogues, otherwise known as PIRATES. Velocity Circus team of slightly unprincipled, playfully deceitful scoundrels and rascallettes will teach children how to walk, talk and present oneself in only the most proper pirate ways.

Some of the exciting components of the Festival of Sail Pirate Academy include:

Join fellow pirates at "Mermaid's Cove" to receive a tattoo reminiscent of the sea
Learn the lingo from an old pro of the sea
Enjoy the tales of the swashbucklers told by an engaging pirate
Partake in the interactive station where pirate students learn about the Tall ships and their travels
Learn the world of knot tying
Perfect pirate sword skills with a master sword pirate
Use ropes and pulleys to learn the ins and outs of rope handling
Discover basic pirate training, including clothing, lingo, drills, calls, etc.

Ticket Price:The cost for the Pirate Academy is $10 per person. Tickets are available at the International Village on a first come, first served basis. A portion of the Pirate Academy ticket sales benefit Cue Kids, www.CUEKIDS.org, a non-profit youth and arts organization created by Gregangelo & Velocity Circus.

There will be a limit to the number of attendees allowed in the tent at any one time. Buy your tickets early!
