Priscilla Newcomb - guest artist

Soprano Priscilla Newcomb has been singing professionally since age 18. She studied voice with Margerie Meier, Marga Mueller and Dorothy Craven (student of Lucie Manen), and has been teaching Bel Canto vocal technique since 1980. As a member of the Shubert (New Haven) Opera Ensemble, Ms. Newcomb performed principal roles, sang and danced in ensemble, and toured with their educational outreach program. In her role as founder and conductor of several choirs, Ms. Newcomb has composed and arranged music for treble voices. She has been a featured soloist for religious services and choral organization performances in Connecticut and New York City, and sings in recital, performing classical, jazz and American standard repertoires.

In addition to her work as a musician, Ms. Newcomb is a graphic artist, photographer, digital artist, poet and freelance writer. She studied creative writing with William Packard, founder of The New York Quarterly, and with Pulizer Prize-winner Richard Wilbur. She studied photography with reknown photographer Manny Rubio, and has shown in juried and invitational exhibits. Her new works, Kaleidiatrikos, were the premier solo show at Studio 59. Ms. Newcomb is an award-winning graphic artist, providing comprehensive design services for businesses nationwide, including Studio 59. Retired from a career as a psychotherapist, she used music, writing and visual arts as therapeutic interventions for individuals and groups. Ms. Newcomb has combined her expertise in psychology and the arts to develop specialized imagery techniques to help creative artists achieve their artistic and personal goals.
