Philadelphia's Americana Duo "The Fence Bells" will release their 5-song debut EP at the newly renovated M Room on October 21st, 2005. The self-titled EP was recorded by acclaimed Philadelphia producer Brian McTear of Minerstreet / Cyclesound Productions (Audible, The Burning Brides).

The Fence Bells, Laurie Pickard and Jeremy Joyce, met a year ago at an open-mic night and instantly knew that hey had to play music together. Both were "bandless" at the time; Laurie had been playing with New York City's Charlie Faye, Jeremy had previously been part of the acclaimed Philadelphia band Adam Arcuragi and Royalty. Even though their musical backgrounds were very different; Laurie came from a Country/Folk tradition, Jeremy from an Indie Rock background, they were able to blend their styles into a unique new direction.

The duo has since performed in Philadelphia and New York venues, and their version of the traditional song "Wayfaring Stranger" has repeatedly been featured on WXPN.

While their style has been influenced by Gillian Welch, Lucinda
Williams, and David Rawlings, the music of The Fence Bells defies categories.

Their songs tug at your heart with beautiful melodies and bitter-sweet lyrics, reminding you why you love to listen to music so much in the first place.

The Fence Bells will be joined by Charlie Faye and The Philadelphia Blue Grass Band.

Charlie Faye began honing her musical chops in Philadelphia PA, playing acoustic blues at local clubs. She moved to New York in 2004, and was quickly recruited to work with country and bluegrass legend Greg Garing. After an 8 month stint as Garing's sideman, she returned again to her own music.
Charlie Faye's songwriting is lyrical in the American folk tradition, but she's got an attitude that tips its hat to country, and a heart that sings the blues.

An acoustic quartet from the Philadelphia area, The Philadelphia
Bluegrass Band is dedicated to the authentic bluegrass sound and style, taking great pride in the traditions of early American Music. The band began performing together in 2003, and has thrilled crowds at World Café Live, Snipes Farm Bluegrass Festival, Painted Bride Arts Center, and many others.
