Organ wunderkind Felix Hell gave his first organ concert at age 9 – just two years after his first piano lesson. In the 15 years since the young German has played around the globe, from the Sidney Opera House to Lincoln Center, always dazzling audiences with – as the New York Times noted this year – “superlative technique, with especially fluent work on the pedals.” His complete mastery of the pipe organ’s broad sonic palette means he serves up big-boned fugues or tender sonatas with equal aplumb. Hell has performed on more than 650 instruments around the world, but this recital marks his debut on Royce Hall’s Skinner organ, which was restored and expanded in 1999 to incorporate more than 6,600 pipes.
