Adding to the rich cultural community in the Bernal Heights district of San Francisco, Bernal Bubbles laundrymat has initiated a lecture series called the Soap Box Lectures. On the first Saturday of every month, after all the laundry has been washed, dried, folded, and put away, we will reopen to offer an invited guest a chance to get up on our soapbox and speak.

These informal talks by various artists, art professionals and cultural critics, living in or around Bernal Heights, will be on a range of subjects of artistic, cultural, political, and social issues of significance to the community.

* * * Please join us at our kick off event on Saturday, February 3rd at 10pm * * * for JoAnne Northrup, senior curator, San Jose Museum of Art and Philo Northrup, Founder Art Car Fest. They will be pulling up to The Bubble in their art cars to talk with us about "non-institutional" art experiences in a lecture titled: "Art Cars and Burning Man: Art Outside The Institution"

After the lecture, guests are invited to join us up the street at a new contemporary art gallery called 301 Bocana Gallery. Run by artist Teresa O'Connor, she has graciously offered her space as a place for refreshments and to give lecture participants the opportunity to extend the conversation.
