With the hybrid sound dubbed "digital cumbia" gaining momentum, the production duo Fauna tap into genres including reggae, reggaeton, cumbia, cumbia villera (gangster cumbia), and baile funk, and merge them with electronic rhythms including IDM, jungle, and breakbeat. This crossbreed sonic base is then layered in flowing ragga lyrics, inspired by meditation practiced at the foot of a Cuyan hill in the Andes. From a motionless journey at the edge of a ditch -usually with a group of friends - Fauna translates their vision in mental shortcuts, with a perspective that could only come from the foothills of their native South American mountain range.
