Farewell My Concubine May 17, 2007

One of the best-known works of classical Beijing Opera, Farewell My Concubine is a moving story of love and devotion between a Chinese king and his favorite concubine during the Warring States period. Many Westerners were introduced to the story by the 1993 film of the same name, which follows the life of a Beijing Opera performer who specializes in one of the lead roles in this opera.
