Amherst Leisure Services proudly announces the 42nd annual Fourth of July festivities behind Alumni Stadium on the UMASS campus in Amherst, MA on Sunday July 4th with a rain date of Monday July 5th. During these tough economic times several other towns in Western, MA have cancelled their fireworks display. This year Amherst Leisure Services is proud to be able to continue providing a quality fireworks display as well as numerous family activities and entertainment.
The festivities start at 5:00pm with a hot air balloon, trackless train rides, bounce houses, sand art, a rock climbing wall, a children’s carnival, face painting and lots of great delicious food! Starting at 6:00pm, there will be entertainment by Zoe Darrow and the Fiddleheads, Henry the Juggler, Hoopoe the Clown, the Whole Foods Corn Husking and the Atkins Farm Pie Eating Contests. All of these events cumulate in a performance by the Amherst Community Band. After hours of fun and entertainment, our grand fireworks display will kick off at 9:30pm.
Thanks to the PVTA, you can also leave your car at home and beat the traffic to our event. There is going to be special bus transportation to our event were you will be dropped off right in front of the UMass Alumni Stadium and the buses will take you home about twenty minutes after the event.
Special thanks to our major sponsors Northampton Cooperative Bank and The University of Massachusetts. Our other major support came from Hampshire Bicycle Exchange, Classic Chevrolet, Whole Foods, Ben and Jerry’s, and UMASS Continuing and Professional Education.
