Free Family Fun! Come with your family to the MIA and celebrate Latin American art and culture, colors and traditions, music and dance.

Soak up the ancient sounds of Nahui Ehecatl, performing on instruments whose origins date back more than five hundred years, or move your feet to the beat of international trio, Tres Mundos, who specialize in the rumba, cha-cha-cha, samba, jazz, and more.

Take a brief lesson in Spanish, and paint a jeweled jade mask like those worn by ancient Mayan kings.

See a special display of children’s textiles from Guatemala, try on a traditional Mexican blouse, called a huipil [wee-PEEL], and explore other vibrant fabrics from Latin American.

Hear local author and illustrator Julie Roth give special readings of her new book, Knitting Nell, and create your own textile using just your fingers.

Celebrate the museum’s stunning collection of textiles from Latin America in a tour specially designed for this Family Day.
