Spend a day in Japan at the Asian Art Museum's Fall Family Festival and Costume Contest. Celebrate Japan's art and culture with fun programs geared for the entire family. Engaging, enriching, and exciting, the Family Festival offers everyone the opportunity to explore Asian art and culture together in a whole new light. There's something for everyone:

- enjoy performances by Gen Taiko Arts, Japanese Bilingual Bicultural Program West Choir, and a magical puppet show of a Japanese folktale

- Godzilla, Hello Kitty, Astroboy...the choices are endless. Dress up as a Japanese character for the costume contest and you might win some cool prizes!

- get hands-on and create your own work of art after observing local artists demonstrate woodblock printmaking, brushpainting, dollmaking, giftwrapping, tea ceramics, and more

- become a kabuki actor by getting your face painted, then capture the moment by having your photo taken

- delight in myths and folktales brought to life in the galleries by museum storytellers

- be the first to see "Traditions Unbound" -- named one of fall's must see-exhibitions by the SF Chronicle -- on its opening weekend

- and much more!
