FAIREWELL
Tonight’s show is the launch party for Fairewell’s debut album, ‘Poor, Poor Grendel’, which is released on Sonic Cathedral Recordings on December 5. Fairewell is Johnny White, originally from Sheffield, now based in north London. He makes music that is both grandiose and introspective and claims to be influenced by Popol Vuh, cLOUDDEAD and The Black Heart Procession, but we can hear The Radio Dept, M83 and a whole lot more as well. Live he is joined by Joe Daniel (Angular) on bass and Josh Alexander on drums for something that is a lot heavier – comparisons have been made to Flying Saucer Attack. YETI LANE
Yeti Lane make the trip over from Paris especially to play at the launch party of the new labelmate. The krautpop duo (both former members of Cyann & Ben, legendary space-rock Gooom Disques labelmates of M83) have recently finished work on their second album ‘The Echo Show’, which will see the light of day on Sonic Cathedral in March 2012. We think it’s a classic. Come and see if you agree.
