With the shrinking of the editorial illustration market, the illustrator today faces many challenges finding work, so rather than giving up completely, illustrators are looking for new markets and new ways to sell both their work and their services. Many graphic artists continue to train and pursue work in this completive area of the graphic arts.

Join us for this panel discussion with illustrators and industry experts as they explore the new frontiers in the illustration market for 2012. We will discuss expanding markets, like animation, graphic novels, interactive media and the evolving and expanding hybrid between design and illustration. We will also explore ways that illustrators can discover new ways of working and making a living today

The Panelists:
Murray Tinkelman is an award-winning artist who has won gold medals from the Society of Illustrators, The New York Art Directors Club and the Society of Publications Designers. Tinkelman has been named the recipient of the 1999 Distinguished Educator in the Arts award from the Society of Illustrators in New York. He has received the 1995 Sports Artist of the Year from The United States Sports Academy, the 1970 Artist of the Year award from The Graphic Arts Guild in New York City, and the 2001 Syracuse University Faculty Service Citation.

Jon Weiman is the owner of Weiman Design, LLC; a design firm specializing in graphic design, web design and illustration. His work has received numerous awards from the Art Directors Club of New Jersey, The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, Graphic Design USA, the Print Regional Design Annual and The International Association of Business Communicators. A current member of the Board of Directors of the Art Directors Club of New Jersey, Jon is the Chair of the Education Council. He is also a former National Vice-President of the Graphic Artists Guild.
