With the gardens in early bloom, spring flowers will abound at Hillwood’s Fabergé Egg Family Festival. With a variety of programs and activities for all ages, this annual weekend event celebrates the arrival of spring in traditional Russian style. A favorite for all ages is the fun of stepping into “Fabergé’s Workshop.” With the beautiful display Passion, Playfulness, Process: Decorated Eggs by Bonnie Mapelli, as a backdrop, guests use ribbons, gems, and appliqués to create their own delicate works of art in the style of Fabergé. Russian Easter traditions, imperial history, and stories about the fabulous Fabergé eggs come to life through the costumed interpreter portraying Tsar Nicholas II.

Storyteller Arianna Ross weaves a fascinating tale inspired by the secrets of Faberge and Hillwood’s Faberge eggs, while Samovar Russian Folk Music Ensemble takes visitors back to Old Russia as they perform on traditional instruments, including the balalaika, accordion, domra, and guitar. And centuries-old Russian springtime games like egg-rolling and egg and spoon racing will entertain children of all ages.
