F.O.K.U.S. NYC Presents...
Off the Wall Art Series: Destroy + Construct
On-The-Walls of Brooklyn at Deity Lounge:
Free Opening Reception Party: October 11 at 7pm
Music by DJ Smoke L.E.S.

On October 11th F.O.K.U.S. will be tearing down preconceptions and societal expectations of what art represents with the Destroy+Construct+Construct+Destroy show.

Join F.O.K.U.S., NY Kings/Frank151, Nort/Recon, Fresh Industries and Spraygraphic as they present Destroy+Construct+Construct+Destroy featuring graffiti and street-inspired art created by AVOne, of Destroy & Rebuild NY and John Wright, of Convoluted Construct. Using individualized mediums and styles, these two artists converge at F.O.K.U.S.' art series premiere event. These two artists' work aims to destroy the negative connotations and public opinions that have come to be associated with graffiti, and to construct in its place a new view and understanding of the now-infamous and globally representative art form.

Free giveaways provided by our sponsors NY Kings/Frank151, Nort/Recon, Fresh Industries and Spraygraphic.

AVOne is part of the noted Destroy & Rebuild NY group, whose collective goal is to combine mediums such as photography, silk screening, graffiti and graphic design to tell the story of the current generation and its environment. While his pieces specifically reach youths who can relate to his style and subject matter, AVOne is reforming the public's conception of street art; "they say we destroyed the city with graffiti," he says, "so now we are rebuilding it through art."

John Wright of Convoluted Construct has been making art since the age of six and has been using his street art-inspired style to "tear a hole into the fabric of our reality." His drawings and paintings draw the viewer into a world that is very much his own creation.

F.O.K.U.S. is a non-profit arts organization, dedicated to uniting the community through all forms of art and expanding what people consider to be art. They have put together shows with artists such as John Legend, Kidz in the Hall, Saul Williams, Justin Bua, Michael Skolnik, Paola Mendoza, Gene Pendon and Slum Village as well as headed up the Family Day at the 2008 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival.

Come out with F.O.K.U.S, Deity Lounge, NY Kings/Frank151, Nort/Recon, Fresh Industries and Spraygraphic families for a unique and wonderful night of art - Off.The.Wall accompanied by great music from DJ Smoke L.E.S.
