Expressions from Within - Art Therapy Seminar and Workshop. Forum Art Gallery in association with Heidi Bardot, ATR, BC (Director of the Department of Art Therapy, The George Washington University),Lisa Raye Garlock, ATR, BC (Faculty, Department of Art Therapy, The George Washington University), Sangeeta Prasad, ATR, BC (Author,Trustee Bambino Educational Trust and Prasad Family Foundation) will conduct a seminar cum workshop at Forum Art Gallery on the uses and approaches of art therapy. The focus of the morning seminar will be on what art therapy is and how and where it is used. The speakers bring with them a wide array of experience working with children, adults and seniors in different settings such as hospitals, schools and other kinds of medical and non-medical institutions. They will present case studies that will help participants understand the value of art therapy within a treatment facility. The presenters will demonstrate how art helps with many aspects of the healing process. The afternoon workshop will be a hands-on workshop that will give the participants an opportunity to experience the process of art therapy. Participants will engage in art making, and then talk about the process of art making and how this can be therapeutic. Participants will then make a connection between what was learned in the morning seminar with their own personnel experience about the process of art making.
