Expressions - Artist's Reception - for Erika Arneson

Erika Arneson delves into the unseen as she explores the internal realm of thought and emotion through her artwork. She uses formless color and shapes, striving to speak directly to the viewer's subconscious. Erika Arneson is a University of Hartford grad with a BA in Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting. She specializes in oil painting and paints on a variety of surfaces including canvas, board, and found objects. Since graduating she's enjoyed doing a small number of shows and lives at the North End Artist's Co-op in Middletown.

Erika Arneson was born in the Bay Area, in California in 1982 where she was encouraged by her family to pursue her natural knack at art and was dragged to numerous art museums and galleries throughout San Francisco and Davis, CA. She moved to Connecticut with her family when she was 17. After graduating high-school she attended Middlesex Communty College where she took every Fine Arts course that she could and earned an Associates Degree in Fine Arts. She finished her college education at University of Hartford and graduated in 2007 with a BA in Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting. She jump started her art career last year in December 2008 with best friend from college, Mary McCarthy, when they put together their own show at the Pine Loft, a restaurant-cafe in Berlin, CT where they often listened to live music being performed. Since then, her art career has snowballed and many other opportunities have come up.

Erika organized a group, all female art show at the Brass Monkey Gallery, (now Freight Gallery) in Waterbury, in March 2009. She just finished her first solo show at Pegasus Gallery at Middlesex Community College. She is happy to join up with The Buttonwood Tree to start off the new year with another solo show! Erika Arneson is thrilled to be a new citizen of Middletown, residing at the North End Artist Co-op, and can't wait to see what the future will bring!
