Effectively leading a business is crucial in an economic recession. With companies downsizing and employees taking on heavier workloads, it’s important that everyone in the workplace comes together to weather the storm. That’s why Express Employment Professionals, the nation’s largest privately held staffing company, is hosting its first nationwide Leadership Instinct Simulcast at 8 a.m. EDT on May 5 at the Hilton Scranton & Conference Center located at 100 Adams Avenue. The event will be emceed by actor Andy Buckley, who plays David Wallace on “The Office”. There will also be a raffling of bus tickets for "The Office" Scranton tour.

The free, three-hour simulcast will be broadcasted from 230 Express hosted locations across the country. Business leaders are encouraged to attend the event in person with more than 500 seats available at the Hilton Scranton. Attendees will hear from Express founder and chairman Robert A. Funk and other notable speakers on how to effectively lead their teams while they use their leadership instinct to their advantage, improve productivity and manage staff during fluctuating production periods.

Amy Clegg, the local owner of Express in Scranton, is honored to have been chosen to host the simulcast. After running an independent office for 12 years, Clegg converted her local staffing agency to Express Employment Professionals in May 2009. Given Clegg’s past success – including being named Pennsylvania’s Best 50 Women in Business in 2007 for her achievements in business and in the community – she was the ideal candidate for Express Employment Professionals’ team.

At the event, Mr. Funk will utilize his experience to speak about leading a team during production highs and lows and will be accompanied by several expert guest speakers, including best-selling author, Jim Stovall. Stovall will discuss his latest book “100 Worst Bosses” -- which includes a foreword by Funk -- and will provide lessons about what not do as a leader, as well as how to grow your leadership skills.

While the simulcast is free of charge, attendees in Scranton are encouraged to donate $10 to Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals. Express has contributed over $3.5 million to the organization since establishing its partnership in 1991.
