Nov 5-29; Opening reception Saturday, Nov 5, 6-9pm

The work of Gerald Huth deals with the "human condition", with the events and experiences of his life,as well as of the world around him. Many of his pieces also reflect the influences of the arts of other cultures and civilizations, encountered during his extensive travels in Asia, Europe, Central America, and the Middle East. "My goal as an artist is to fulfill the human expression of the time in which we live".

"Explorations" at Gallery 1044 in San Francisco presents a wide range of the recent work of the artist. The larger pieces are called "construction/paintings", which combine oil painting on various-shaped, non-rectangular canvasses, with wood sculpture. There will be a large series of his newest mixed-media collages, which integrate a wide variety of papers with drawing techniques such as pastel, charcoal, watercolor, and ink. The most recent pieces are collage/sculptures, mounted on rotating cylinders, and combining the effects of both two- and three-dimensional art. In all the work there is a rich use of color,a great variety of textures and materials, and the ever-present beauty of the human form.

Gerald Huth has been on a journey of art and "explorations" for some 40 years. He studied art and architecture at the University of Pennsylvania, and continued his studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts d'Avignon (France), and the Art Students' League of New York. He has exhibited extensively throughout the United States and Europe, particularly in Switzerland, Germany, and France. His work is in the Brooklyn Museum , San Francisco State University, the Rene diRosa Collection, the Berlin Art Center, and in many other public and private collections around the world. Gerald Huth was born and grew up in New York City, and now lives in Forestville in Sonoma County, California.
