Executive Sous Chef Mauricio Guerrero Launches “Surprising Chile” Festival at Le Bistrot September 10, 2007

Hailing from Chile, Executive Sous Chef Mauricio Guerrero showcases authentic cuisine of Chile with an incredible sculpture exhibition by world-known Chilean sculptor PALOLO VALDES BUNSTER and “Chilean Wines” in “Surprising Chile” food festival from September 10 - 19 at Le Bistrot of Le Royal Meridien Shanghai.

The highlights of the menu range from typical Chilean appetizers to desserts and the traditional flavors are made from sweet corns; salmon that imported from Chile will be showcased in different surprising ways, as well as tomato and typical Chilean bread. The menu includes Papa mayo (popula photato salard), Ensalada Chilena (tomato and onion salad flavored with Cilantro), Different kinds of “Ceviches” (Lemon marinated seafoods), Oven baked Salmon with Creamy Spinach, Monk fish “al pil pil” with sweet corn and tomatoes, Pastel de Choclo (Typical Chilean dish base don sweet corn, eaten during hot summer days), Tomatican (A vegetarian tomato stew), Pure picante de papas (Spicy potato puree), Lentils stew, Humitas a la olla (Chilean version of the tamales), Empandas, Chilean breads of Milcao, Marracquetas, Hallullas, Pan amasado as well as an array of sweet Chilean desserts.
During this 20-day event, guests will also enjoy watching the sculpture exhibition by world-known sculptor PALOLO VALDES BUNSTER. Born in Santiago, Chile, he is one of the best self-taught sculptors of South America. His sculpture exhibition will be feature at the Lobby level and Le Bistrot during the festival.

Five Chilean winery vineyards will offer their incredible Chilean wine promotion, “one of the best in world”. Guest can enjoy one complimentary glass of Chilean wine at a wide selection.

The “Surprising Chile” food festival is priced at RMB 168 per person for lunch buffet and RMB 218 per person for dinner buffet and RMB 238 on Tuesday Crab Night, priced at RMB 418 per adult for Sunday Brunch. All prices are subject to 15% service charge and are inclusive of coffee or tea.
