‘Everything to Declare: Celebrating 25 years of Wasafiri’

A day of events to celebrate Wasafiri magazine’s 25th anniversary

Wasafiri first appeared in 1984. Over the past 25 years, the magazine has published some of the world’s most distinguished writers and is well known for discovering and signposting ‘the best of tomorrow’s writers today’. From pioneers such as Sam Selvon to poetry by Vikram Seth and short stories by Amit Chaudhuri, from early interviews with Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Diana Evans to unique conversations with some of the most exciting voices in contemporary writing, Wasafiri has charted a wave of writing that has changed the face of literature. In the spirit of its name, taken from the Kiswahili word for ‘travellers’, Wasafiri continues to take readers on a journey around the world via the word, extending the boundaries of literary culture. Come and enjoy this incredible achievement at a day-long festival of readings, discussions, poetry and music.
