A young couple's relationship is pushed to the brink while vacationing in the Mediterranean in this smart, sexy drama from acclaimed new filmmaker Maren Ade. On the surface, Chris (Lars Eidinger) and Gitti (Birgit Minichmayr) appear blissfully in love while enjoying the sun and sand of Sardinia. But as they spend more time together, their playful teasing and silly games begin to unmask hidden fears and desires. When they accidentally run into another, seemingly happier and more successful couple, the tensions between them erupt. J. Hoberman of The Village Voice says: “Provocatively titled, superbly performed and emotionally graphic, Ade’s exploration of intimacy and its discontents recalls the European relationship epics of 35 years ago—Rivette’s L’amour fou, Bergman’s Scenes From a Marriage, Jean Eustache’s The Mother and the Whore.” Winner of the Grand Jury Prize and Best Actress awards at the 2009 Berlin Film Festival.

“Brilliant. A delicious, acutely observed dissection of the…ties between two lovers.” – Pete Brunette, Hollywood Reporter

“Sublime, subtle and masterfully handled portrait of the dynamics of a young couple.” – New York Magazine

“Stunning. Not only is Everyone Else an instant contender for the pantheon of breakup movies, its manifold splendors evoke entire periods of great cinema.” – Kevin B. Lee, Slant
The film’s running time is 119 minutes; it is not rated. In German; fully subtitled in English.
