Evenings of Piano Concerti: Evening I September 13, 2007

The first concerto in a bi-weekly series presented by Yamaha Artist Services, Inc. and Klara Min that will include five accomplished pianists performing an outstanding concerto of Bach at Yamaha's midtown Piano Salon on Thursday, September 13. The program will include such works as:

• J.S. Bach: Concerto for Harpsichord & Strings in G minor
• J.S. Bach: Concerto for Harpsichord & Strings in D minor
• J.S. Bach: Concerto for Harpsichord & Strings in E major
• J.S. Bach: Concerto for Harpsichord & Strings in A major
• J.C. Bach: Concerto for Harpsichord & Strings in E-flat major

The concerto will include five renowned pianists. Klara Min, a South Korean native and presenter of the series, has performed in the U.S., Spain, France, Italy and South Korea. As a winner of the Artists International Competition, she has performed with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, New York Sinfonietta, American Chamber Orchestra and Jupiter Symphony, and her performance of Chopin’s first piano concerto was broadcast nationwide in Korea on SBS. Magdalena Baczewska, a Poland native, studied at Mannes College of Music in New York City, where she won the Academic Excellence Prize, the Theory of Music Prize and the Performance Excellence Award. She has been a prize winner at various competitions including the Paderewski Competition in Poland, the Dorothy McKenzie Award Competition in New York and the Festival Conservatoire Americaine in France.

Yevgeniy Karafin, a Ukraine native, has participated in national and international competitions and has won many awards including first prize in the Prokofiev Festival Competition, the "Best Collaborative Pianist" prize at the second International Competition of Folk Instruments in Russia and won the Artists International Auditions. Peter Vinograde, known as an outstanding interpreter of Bach, annually tours the U.S., Canada and Asia. He won first prize in the 1971 J.S. Bach International Competition and is frequently heard on National Public Radio. His National Gallery programs have aired on Performance Today and were featured on CBC-TV’s “The Journal.” Yoni Levyatov is a two time recipient of the Dorothy McKensie Artists Award, received the Clairmont Prize in Tel Aviv and has been a recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship since 1990. He has performed at Menora Hall in England, Philharmonic Hall in Russia and the Jerusalem Music Center at the Tel Aviv Museum of Arts.
