Ethics in Film: Classic Science Fiction - Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension September 4, 2009

Buckaroo Banzai is a hilarious space romp starring Peter Weller as Buckaroo Banzai, acclaimed neurosurgeon, particle physicist, and rock star. Buckaroo has perfected the Oscillation Overthruster, which allows him to travel through solid matter by using the eighth dimension. But his sworn enemy, the demented Dr. Lizardo (John Lithgow), devises a plot to steal the Overthruster and bring an evil army of aliens back to destroy Earth. Buckaroo is aided by his band, the Hong Kong Cavaliers, hard-rocking scientists who are also really good dressers; Penny Priddy (Ellen Barkin), a dead ringer for his late wife; and other oddball characters, as he faces down a madman in an extra-dimensional battle to save the universe. Buckaroo Banzai is a hilarious romp through the outer dimensions. “Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!”
