This is the largest and most intricate installation of Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto. He has developed a distinct sculptural idiom using foam, fabric, found materials and aromatic spices. In 1998, he made his first fabric rooms, stretching membranes of Lycra tulle from gallery walls, ceilings, and floors and inviting barefoot visitors to enter into and pass through cavities that evoke the womb, interiors of churches, sailing vessels and spaceships.
