The New Haven Improvisers Collective presents the Erasmus Quintet, celebrating the release of their new CD, Serious Folly, now out on NHIC Records. This is Avant Electro Chamber Gypsy Jazz in which the quintet focuses on eternal rhythms, interlocking, searching for the everlasting one. Electrovibes provide the backbone to the group with complementary and sometimes jagged guitars mixing it up with saxophones and accordion. A unique blend of instrumentation, conceptual underpinnings, and intuitive rhythms along with a healthy dose of fun.
In a review of an Erasmus Quintet performance, The Yale Daily news said “It felt as if snake charmers were working their magic on the audience. Guitar and accordion have never sounded this good.”
Erasmus Quintet :
Jeff Cedrone and Bob Gorry – Guitars
Adam Matlock – accordion and clarinet
Paul McGuire – saxophones
Steve Zieminski - electronic mallet percussion, drums and assorted parlor tricks.
