The findings of research into the needs of East Hampshire’s largest ethnic minorities will be presented at a conference next week.

Community First East Hampshire has looked into the requirements of the Bangladeshi, Chinese and the Afro-Caribbean communities as part of a unique project.

The findings of the research will be presented to a conference on the 17 November at St John’s Church Hall in Rowlands Castle.

The event will also see the launch of a new project researching the needs of the lesbian, gay and bisexual communities in both East Hampshire and Havant.

The collaboration has been funded by Improvement & Efficiency South East (IESE) and also includes Havant Community Services.

This project, which will be completed by April 2011, will also be carried out by a community researcher and is the first opportunity for local voluntary sector organisations to explore the needs of the LGB community.

The conference will also be addressing some of the key issues raised by the new Equalities Act and will feature keynote speakers, including Alexis Wright from the Equality and Human Rights Commission and Mohammed Ansar, Chair of Hampshire’s Independent Equality Forum.

To book a place please contact Anstey Brierley at Community First East Hampshire on [email protected] or telephone 0173 0710017.
