The chamber orchestra, Ensemble du Monde, and Music Director Marlon Daniel open the 2008 season at the newly renovated Merkin Concert Hall with a program of ballet music written especially for chamber orchestra. The program is highlighted by a New York premiere from Ghana's greatest composer, Fred Onovwerosuoke, the gripping 'Meditation for Darfur,' along with a rare performance of Manuel de Falla's gypsy-inspired 'El Amor Brujo' in its 1915 original version. The soloist in this performance is mezzo-soprano Lori-Kaye Miller.
