Engelbert Humperdinck’s first mega-hit Release Me went to number one in eleven countries followed
by the huge success of The Last Waltz. His career in the ‘70s was punctuated by a steady stream of
hits including the Grammy nominated After the Lovin’, and other great hits including; Quando-Quando-
Quando, Winter World Of Love, Am I That Easy To Forget, There Goes My Everything, Les Bicyclettes
De Belsize and A Man Without Love.
“Australia has always been very supportive of me and my music,” said Engelbert. “I am so happy and
grateful to be able to come and perform in November.”
Inspired by the Legacy of Love album, which revisits many of his most memorable hits and two never
before recorded songs, the classic Over the Rainbow and My Way, the tour of the same name comes
hot on the heels of Humperdinck’s highly successful and critically acclaimed fortieth anniversary tour
which was a one hundred city worldwide celebration of the four decades since his spectacular debut on
the world’s stage.
Engelbert Humperdinck’s music has withstood the test of time thanks to his sensitive interpretation of
lyrics. Not limiting himself to just one genre, he has recorded everything from pop to disco, rock and
gospel. His inimitable three-and-a–half octave range and ultra smooth onstage charisma won over fans
of every generation and has made him one of the world’s most instantly recognized voices.
It has been an amazing journey for the man born Arnold George Dorsey in Madras, India, the youngest
of ten children. His family returned to England when Engelbert Humperdinck was ten. From an early
age, he had a passion for music and took saxophone lessons, all the while dreaming of being a
bandleader. After a stint in the military in his late teens, at the suggestion of his then-manager, Gordon
Mills, Humperdinck decided to reinvent himself with a new, mysterious image. This led to a new name -
that of the noted 19th century German composer of such classic operas as Hansel and Gretel. Thus
was born the phenomenon known as Engelbert Humperdinck.
The legacy of love between Engelbert Humperdinck and his audience continues as an unstoppable
force. He remains the consummate global entertainer, a rare example of unequaled style and
sophistication. He continues to perform for sold out audiences and his millions of fans all over the
world. The demand for his music is so strong he recorded many multi-language versions of his most
popular songs. With each day he continues to seek out and conquer new creative challenges, designed
to keep his fans surprised, satisfied and eager to come back for more.
