ENCORES: the Best of Bodyvox October 22, 2008

For ENCORES: The Best of BodyVox, set for October 22 – 25 in the Newmark Theatre of the Portland Center for the Performing Arts, artistic directors Jamey Hampton and Ashley Roland may have reached a new high in embracing the public—they are stepping aside and inviting the audience to play artistic director. BodyVox has asked its patrons to vote online to select the dances that will make up ENCORES: The Best of BodyVox. Since it’s founding in 1997, BodyVox has premiered 139 new dances here in Portland—Roland and Hampton have picked their favorites for a long ballot list, and have asked the audience to vote as well. Once votes have been tallied, the dances that will be included in ENCORES will only then be known, to the company and to the public.
