The Heartland Institute, a 22-year-old national nonprofit organization headquartered in Chicago, will host on Thursday, October 5, its Third Annual Emerging Issues Forum. Heartland senior fellows, managing editors, and public policy experts from the leading free-market think tanks and advocacy groups in the country will address budget and taxes, telecommunications, health care, and the environment. On the agenda are hot issues like network neutrality and global warming. Douglas L. Whitley, president of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce, is the luncheon keynote speaker. The forum will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (registration at 8:00 a.m.) at The Newberry Library at 60 West Walton Street in Chicago. Admission to the forum is free. An optional lunch is $35 if purchased before August 15, $50 after August 15, and $65 at the door.
