Young-Im CHOI

Works by Paderewski, Schubert, Rachmaninoff, Mozart, and Ravel

Young-Im Choi, a native of Seoul, Korea, began studying piano at the age of seven. She
has performed throughout Korea, USA, France, Romania and Spain as a recitalist,
soloist and chamber musician. In 2002, Ms.Choi has appeared as a guest soloist with
the Vrasov Orchestra in Romania. She has performed in the International Piano Festival
in Spain, the Festival of Music Alp in France, Arona International Music Festival in Spain
and the Alexander Toradze piano institute in South Bend. Recently, Ms.Choi has performed
in 2008 Gilmore International Keyboard Festival. In addition, she has garnered top
prizes in numerous competitions in Korea, including the First Prize in the Korean Times
Competition, Korean Pianist Association Competition, Teenager Piano Competition and
the Samik Piano Competition. She also participated in the 2007 William Kapell
International Piano Competition and Festival and 2010 Takamatsu International Piano
Competition. Most recently, she won the Second Prize at the 2009 Bradshaw & Buono
International Piano Competition. Ms.Choi is a recipient of the Ralph Votapek Endowed
Scholarship Fund in Music as a winner of MSU Mozart Piano Concerto Competition.
She has also taken part in master classes with Leon Fleisher, Paul Lewis and Ingrid Fliter.

Ms.Choi completed a bachelor of music and master of music at the Yonsei University as a
student of Young-Ho Kim. She also received a master of music and graduate performance
diploma from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University under Alexander
Shtarkman. Ms.Choi is a doctoral candidate at Michigan State University, studying with
George Vatchnadze.
