Elgin historians Mike Alft, Bill Briska and Jerry Turnquist will speak on the topic of "Mass Transit (and More) in Elgin: Its Past, Present and Future."

The speakers will discuss life in Elgin in the late 1800s and first half of the 20th century. Their discussions will focus on transportation, home design, waste disposal, and energy conservation practices of the time and what implications might be gleaned toward making our lives more sustainable today. A question-and-answer session, led by Elgin City Councilman Dave Kaptain, co-chairman of Elgin's Sustainability Committee, will follow their presentation.
