Come and Wish Elektra Women’s Choir Bon Voyage!

Elektra Women’s Choir and co-conductors Morna Edmundson and Diane Loomer have had a stellar year, celebrating their twentieth anniversary with reading sessions, workshops, and packed concerts. Now the choir is issuing an invitation: Come and wish Elektra Bon Voyage! as they present two FREE performances of repertoire they will present at Festival 500: Sharing the Voices in St Johns, Newfoundland in July, 2007.

Both Bon Voyage! concerts are on Saturday, June 23, with a matinee performance in Burnaby at New Westminster Christian Reformed Church, 8255 13th Ave, Burnaby (3 PM), and an evening performance at Vancouver’s Ryerson United Church, 2195 W45th Ave, (7 PM).

“ These concerts are both a celebration and a thank you to our friends who have supported us all these years,” says co-conductor, Morna Edmundson.

Elektra’s Twentieth Anniverary Concert in April was sold out almost before its publicity campaign began. Patrons lucky enough to get tickets heard the suave singing that has become known as the “Elektra sound” in a wide-ranging programme that included glorious favourites and celebratory commissioned works premiered that evening.

“In its 20 years of existence, Elektra has been so lucky to tour and share their music with the world,” adds Diane Loomer. “This July we're excited to bring our voices and our music to ruggedly beautiful Newfoundland. The June 23rd concerts are the perfect chance to say 'Bon Voyage' and hear firsthand what we're bringing East. Come and wildly wave the BC flag as we head for Festival 500 in St. John's.”

Bon Voyage! is your opportunity to hear one of Vancouver’s finest choirs at the top of its form, performing material that they are about to sing at a major festival – and the concerts are free. Could there be a better way to welcome summer?
