Big thanks to everyone for making last Thursday's (((SHAKE))) break the Richter scale! Tons of people came from the New Times' Artopia, which was a great event itself. We showed that (((SHAKE))) LOVE THE KIDS, as you guys brought tons of art supplies for the kids at Southridge Senior High School, and we're sure they'll be super excited. Southridge Alums came through in force; Care Chimba played great videos on the Patio, Total Control Posse killed it, and our dawg Aholsniffsglue added a sick new art piece to the back gate of The Vagabond! This week promises more fun times with the debut of el SHAKE! Here's your personal invite from the King himself, Jose El Rey...

My dearest and closest friends,

I would like to invite you to The Vagabond this Thursday, Febuary the 5th; please come and join with me an especial event: el SHAKE! My friends and I are preparing a wonderful fiesta of glorious and semi-mythical proportions. Inside The Vagabond our tremendous DJs Senor Doormouse y Capitan Induce will be spinning the non-stop hip-hop party hits that you know and love; outside on the patio, Don Alejandro Caso and I are going to play all kinds of Spanish music that you know and forgot how much you love. These are the songs our parents would play when they would host parties and we were too young to get down.
But, we got down, we danced with abuela, learned smooth moves from our older cousins while our creepy tio gave us our first beer.

Now, we're old enough to drink, it's legal to get down; hell, some of us are the cooler older cousins, and I am a super creepy uncle. Come to (((SHAKE))) Thursday and crash my Cuban house party next door.
We've enlisted Cuci Amador from Afrobeta to make sure the fiesta is fiesty, and our hermanos Yoyi and Frizko are going to make sure the party is loud and bumping enough that the cops will get called. When the cops show up they'll join us in the Overtown's longest and first and best Conga line.
